Default New Computer

I am very new to Horizon Data Sys and I have a question:

If I clone my system now can I use the clone to load a brand new computer?

I will upgrade to a new system which has one of those new drives without movable parts. Can I load the new computer with the clone that I would like to make now without having to reinstall everything from scratch?

I really would like an opinion or a few on this subject, since I am a novice when it comes to these things.

Wondering in Niagara Falls, Canada,
Inge

I am sorry, but I do not understand any of this. I would rather like to have a straight Yes or No answer.

Can I use a clone of my present system to load a new computer?

Can I or can I not?

If no, that is fine!

If yes, then I will have to learn how to do it.

Still puzzled in Niagara,
Inge:

If one "dropped" an image onto a hardrive in a new computer, would not trouble likely occur? The "new" hardware may meet "old" software (drivers and such) resulting in issues.

-The PC pros would most certainly know exactly what to do in this "headache in the making" situation, but not us folks just trying to keep the family PC going!

In other words, it is not a good idea, right?

There are programs that can do this and I cannot from memory say if DC is one of them. You might want to take a look at the features page of DC and that should give you some idea if its designed to do this or not.

Beyond this I would suggest you post a question on this on the Backup, Imaging & Disk Mgmt forum over at Wilders (link to follow). You will get a lot of guidance from very knowledgeable folks as to the easiest and best way to do what you want to do.

Here is the link backup, imaging & disk mgmt - Wilders Security Forums

I hope this helps
