Default Can an image be restored from one operating system to a different one?

This may be a silly question, but will Drive Cloner restore an image to a different operating system, say from Vista to Windows 7? And if so, what happens to all the programs and settings (task bar icons, desktop icons, wallpaper etc) already on the different operating system—are they removed or do they coexist with the restored image?

I ask because this is likely to be the scenario if I do need to use a restored image. Most new PCs will have Windows 7 installed, and I use Vista.

No. Drive Cloner Rx is used to make a clone of your hard disk - OS, Files -everything. I don't quite understand how you could restore an image of a PC that had XP onto another OS? The only time that you would restore from a image is when your new drive is completely empty and you want to restore your previous image.

If you are looking at only backing up data files then this is possible. For this you would simply copy all of you data and then port it over to your new OS PC.

Let me know if I am missing anything.
