I am looking are replacing our current computer lab hard drive protection software (Protect-On2) with something that will support 64 bit operating systems. I don't like Protect-On2s new version for 64-bit
, thus I am trying Drive Vaccine . I have it installed and working. But getting it to that point one major issue surfaced loudly. It simply refuses to boot when the PC's BIOS/CMOS boot sequence is network boot 1st and hard drive boot 2nd. We use a FOG server to upload and deploy all hard drive images, thus our PCs will check the network first for any re-imaging tasks. When none are found, it then goes on to boot from the hard drive. (Just like if someone has their CD/DVD drive as their first boot option and no boot CD/DVD is present it moves on to the next boot device). The computer will report "booting from hard disk" then the screen goes black and starts to beep loudly. It freezes up and will not boot. When I set the hard drive as the first boot option in BIOS/CMOS it starts up fine. I would prefer to keep the network boot option as my first choice, since I can re-image PC remotely. But with the computer set to boot from the hard drive first, it would require me to be on-site and press F11 to get a boot sequence menu in order to selection network boot. Any ideas? I really want to move to the 64 bit OS. We have the hardware and software. But need a workable hard drive protection program that allow us to have network boot as 1st option.Best Regards, Eddie Ufford Hanford High |

One change from the above post. Instead of it saying, "Booting from hard drive" it actually says, "Booting from local disk..." followed by, "PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM". Then it goes black and starts beeping like a junk yard dog after a juicy pork chop.
