Lightbulb Backup & restore the snapshots.

Hi,

I know that EAZ-FIX (and Rollback Rx I presume) stores the snapshots in the MBR.

I therefore ask the following question after reading the article of this link :
Backup and restore Windows MBR with MBRWizard - Instant Fundas
...
Is it possible with this soft to backup the snapshots (and in case of problem to restore them with the bootable-cd of EAZ-FIX) ???
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Jeanjean,

If only it were that simple . The snapshots aren't actually stored in the MBR as the MBR is a tiny (but very important) part of the hard disk. The snapshots are stored in sectors on the hard disk which appear to Windows to be unused. So the only way to back up all the snapshots you have is to use a disk imaging program which will backup all sectors on the disk, including 'unused' sectors.

If you take a look a the Rollback forum, there are a few threads which go into this but the only software to do this from within Windows seems to be Image for Windows.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Graham

@ HDS-Jacob & nexstar

Thank you very much for your prompt replies. I'll take a look at the Rollback forum as you suggest.
