Default How many times can I un-install/re-install Rollback Rx?

I am having an issue with Rollback Rx on my new PC. I have a support ticket going (taking forever, even though I opted for the "GOLD SERVICE" plan!

Regardless, in my trouble-shooting process, I have un-installed/re-installed Rollback Rx several times (in order to hopefully, "fix" the issue)

- The last time I re-installed Rollback Rx, I got some message saying something on the line of "Hey buddy, this is the last time you can activate this software with your "key" - Now I am afraid to un-install and reinstall again! (should the need arise! )

- I am sure if I contacted Horizon, they would remedy situation. My question relates to the risks of "cloning" or making an image of my hard drive using any of the typical "cloning" tools. After reading several posts/threads on this forum, it seems best that to clone (copy) one's hard drive onto an external drive, one should un-install Rollback Rx, make the clone/image then re-install Rollback Rx.

I understand, all my Rollback snapshots will not survive this proceess...too bad!

Well, I can accept that but if Horizon only allows a few un-intalls/re-installs, I fear getting "spanked" for the action! Do I really have to request Horizon to accept my "key" over and over?

Any thoughts by you seasoned "time-travelers"?

Default

I had a similar problem a while ago and simply called the 1-800 number, and pushed the button for Sales. The nice, young lady rectified the problem immediately in the database and I was good-to-go.

Hope this helps.

Default But what about HARDWARE issues?

Chuck,

Thanks for your reply!

- It is re-assuring to the "non-PC pro" that "bugs" and other such "strange PC behaivior" is seen and observed by others.

- In this case, I understand why Horizon allows a limited number of "re-installs" per the "security key" issued to the customer at the time of purchase of any software product.

- Rollback Rx is such a cool product. Very clever! The major weakness of Rollback is that it can not (easily) survive if the hard drive is "copied" (cloned, imaged ....to me, the terms mean about the same thing) onto an external media (just in case of a major hardware issue)

- Reading the forums here, it is clear that many folks wish that Rollback, in all it's glory, could work smoothly with a "cloning" process. I am surprised that this task is so difficult. Even the use of Horizon's own "cloner" (which does about the same thing as Acronis True Image and the likes) "kill" Rollbacks snapshots in the process.

I think, (but not certain) it is recommend that Rollback Rx be un-installed before "cloning" a hard drive (I may be wrong on this point) Regardless, it seems dangerous and overly complicated to me!

-I like to keep things simple. I hear tell of a product called "Image for Windows" that some say will not kill Rollback Rx in any way. I will look into this product but again..... I do not want to mess up my PC if the "cloning" process is "dicey" I have Rollback on both of our family PC's and folks get pretty crabby if the computer is "down" for any length of time!
