I have just downloaded and started using RB Rx so I have some questions. When making a snapshot,do you normally lock the snapshot? Why would you not lock a snapshot? I plan to not schedule snapshots. I'm going to make them as I feel the need.

It's your call, but I think it's best to have RBRx take snaps on a regular basis (at least daily). You may not 'feel the need' to do so right before the 'fit hits the shan'. pv |

I take a snapshot automatically, once an hour. This is a family PC, with teens using it daily. (God only knows how many nights I have stayed up 'til 1:30AM to untangle some mess they have made of the PC before I found Rollback!)
- Every three days or so I delete most snapshots, perhaps keeping one a week. - I engage a Rollback defrag after this somewhat large deletion. Rollback seems to like frequent defrags. -Then I Restart PC (makes me feel better) - Perhaps this schedule sounds excessive. To me, it's a small price to pay for what this "magic" program does! tubby |

I have mine set to do a snapshot Daily on first boot. Also it is set to delete all unlocked snapshots after 7 days. So after 7 days is it back to the base line? My question is what happens to everything in the 7 deleted snapshots?

I do not take any snapshots at bootup.
My reasoning is that a bootup is complicated enough without "dragging a snapshot" into the equation! - There probably is no technical merit to my approach and I hope there isn't! However,...... I just "feel" a bit safer taking a snapshot when my PC is "nice, quiet and settled down" tubby |

You won't lose your current config or snapshots less than 7 days old. All that you will lose is the ability to roll back to anything that was unlocked but more than 7 days old, so presumably you will lock what you regard as a clean build, and if you haven't noticed a problem that crept in more than 7 days ago you had better roll back to a clean build anyway.

Hi William! Anything that's still "parented" in snapshot #2 will remain in that snapshot. Only things that were unique to snapshot #1 and removed before snapshot #2 was taken, will be gone after the deletion.
