Hi WilliamP,

Sorry, but this is not very clear. Based on your snapshot plans, I presume you mean that RBRx did not take a snapshot when you first booted-up yesterday (nor today)? - and what do you mean by "the date on the program had stopped"? ...is that to mean the date of the last snapshot (as shown on RBRx's screen) reads 11/7/10?

Have you checked the event log? ....also be sure to check if daily snapshots are still defined in your scheduled tasks.

The program shows a calendar and I assumed it showed the date. I guess it only shows the dates of the snapshots. Well it quit making scheduled snapshots, so I took it off schedule and will make snapshots when I want to.

The problem with doing only manual snapshots is that you never know when you might need one. Do manual snapshots by all means but keep some kind of scheduled snapshot as a fall-back.

Be aware that the daily snapshot option isn't quite that; it takes the snapshot on the first boot of the day, so if you don't do a boot then there is no snapshot. I keep my PC on sleep much of the time (Win7 is so much better than previous incarnations, almost Linux-like in that respect) so I quite often don't get a daily boot.

I plan to create a snapshot after updates to my programs or other events. So long as I have at least one good snapshot sitting there waiting, I will feel ok.

That's well and good, but I still believe you should also have RBRx take scheduled snapshots on a regular basis!

Best of luck,

I second Owl and PVSurfer. You never know when you might need to revert back to how things were at the "start of day".
But if you do it manually, then take snapshots BEFORE you make changes rather than afterwards. Better still, take snapshots both before and after.

I take a snapshot upon daily start-up. Then take special snapshots as needed.
Taking this many snapshots doesn't hurt anything. The program is designed for this.
These snapshots have saved me many times.

This is a Laptop that basically is only used by my wife to play Farmville on facebook. She has become addicted. So I got a laptop for her to use if she will be away from her desk top. She doesn't use the laptop much because she says it is too slow. I built her desk top i7 920 overclocked to 3.8ghz with an Intel SSD. It moves.
