Merle, from the FWIW dept.

I just yesterday flirted with putting Windows Security Essentials on some lower speed machines (i.e. 1ghz and 1.2ghz) and discovered that it's resource requirements are horrendous. I couldn't believe how bad the machine's performance was with that system in place (and that was on an XP system). I would imagine that on a 1.6ghz dual-threaded ATOM-based machine, you'd have some terrible resource committments... a pretty slow machine. Wait 'til you try some ZIP unpacking and moving a few large files... you'll be amazed.

It took me exactly 4-min. to dump that Security System. ESET from Nod32 runs very well on resource-challenged systems... but they have no FREE version.
