Default black cursor and no sub os console

Hello,

I have installed rollback to a windows 7 dell laptop. I was able to reboot successfully a few times on the installation snapshot. I created another snapshot and locked it. After this reboot, the machine will not boot.

I just have a black screen with a blinking cursor at top left of screen. I cannot get into the sub os using the HOME key or the other utility (i believe its control+shift+f12)

I hooked the drive up to a dock and i can see all of the data so it looks like the file system is there, but no windows?

MBR problem? any ideas on how to fix?

Hello,

I was able to resolve this issue by running the following command.
"bootsect /nt60 E:\"
You need a windows 7 CD, boot to repair options and run command prompt.
run /scanos to see what drive letter the windows files are on, in this case it was on E: volume.
- this command re-writes boot sector to the E:\ volume...i think its the same as fixboot for windows xp.
first and second link is where i got this from.

after i ran this, i rebooted and crossed my fingers, and up came windows 7.
For some of you this may be a problem because it brought me back to the baseline, but in my case, i had just installed RB so that wasn't an issue. This was on a newer dell business grade laptop.
Had to then remove the remaining pieces of RB from that machine and re-install. (i did not re-install yet)

I just ran into this issue with another Dell model and ran the following command to fix this via the repair console...

bootsect /nt60 E: /mbr

/scanos would not tell me where the windows installation was so i chose e:\ based on prior expierence.

If I am following the above it would appear that you would install the MBR protection program after you install Rx and you would have to uninstal it if you were uninstalling RX to do PC maintenance. Is this correct?
