You are absolutely right. As we know; RollBack Rx has two components
- Subconsole (Mini OS that boots before Windows)
- GUI components(windows interface)
The SHDSERV.exe is a service that runs. It primary purpose is to interact between the RollBack Rx drivers with the Subconsole. This is a needed service for any actions or scheduled tasks.
You can STOP the service if you wish but you can not (should not) REMOVE the service.

and I've gotten the BSOD a couple times. I've started monitoring the processes active at the times of corruption. I've noticed in the Task Manager that almost every time, SHDSERV.exe is hogging 90+ percent of the cpu. It also happens at times that Rollback shouldn't be busy with any tasks. So, whats up with that?? Anybody have any reasons why this is happening? Is it really a process of Rollback?

In no way should the service be using that high % of your system resources. You may have some services or scheduled tasks running - but from your information above, it seems that no actions are supposed to be occuring. The reasons for your BSOD are also unclear... If you roll-back to a much earlier snapshot - do you still experience the high resources? Do you still get a BSOD? If so then you may have a poor configuration in your most recent snapshot.
If this issues is common with all snapshots then I would recommend opening a support ticket open on this (if you haven't already done so). You can start a trouble ticket at
