I finally got a chance to exercise the 2009 version of Rollback's SNAPSHOT SCAVENGER on my production system today. This system currently has 26 snapshots in its database with the following mix...
Baseline 09 - Locked (Weekly references) 15 - unLocked (either 3-a-day Scheduled or manual) Current - current machine state When the SCAVENGER is run on this system, it only finds the Baseline, the 1st Locked snapshot and the "current machine state" (which is not snapshotted). It can mount and explore the baseline and the 1st Locked, but finds no other mountable snapshot on the system. This tool, in this condition, is not very useful at all. My original test was run on a bench system with four snapshots (created for testing purposes only) and a baseline and the SCAVENGER found them all. Both the bench and production systems are running XPsp3 fully updated. Iceman, if any of the HDS people care about this tool's status, would you pls pass on this feedback for their use... thanks. |
