Default Scheduled Tasks problem

As a new user I am having some problems with this system, using the trial version.
1) I tried to set up some scheduled tasks. This works OK for snapshots based on time (e.g. hourly) or on restart.
However I cannot get the “Event driven” option to work.
For example, I tried to take a snapshot whenever Internet Explorer is opened. In the program box I tried various options :-

iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" (quotes included due to spaces in text string)

None of these worked. Similar actions for other programs also failed. Any suggestions on why this does not work.

Hello gsr,

Welcome to the Horizon DataSys Forum.

Pasting info from the Knowledge Base here:

"The Event-based Snapshot Scheduler takes 3 minutes after you create an entry to take effect . So, please wait for 3 minutes after you create the schedule and then test it again."

Let's see if we can get some additional suggestions here.

Jacob

I've just tried it here using version 9.1 build 2696359952 and it seems to work ok just by entering iexplore.exe into the text box. Presumably the schedule appears in the list as it should?

Default Scheduled tasks still not working

In response to the suggestions, I can confirm that :-
a) I am using version 9.1 build 2696359952
b) The 'event' tasks do show in the list of 'scheduled tasks', so I assume that I have set them up correctly.
c) Waiting for several minutes after creating an 'event' task has no effect. Even next day, after re-boot they still do not work.

NOTE - The reboot and hourly options work correctly - it is only 'event' initiated tasks that fail.

I have additionally tried several options to start a program, such as iexplore.exe, but all fail :-
a) From a desktop shortcut
b) From the 'Start - All Programs' menu
c) Directly from C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe in Windows Explorer.

Any further suggestions ??

I am using the program in the 'Trial' mode. Another 8 days to go, but I would be reluctant to buy if I cannot get it to work fully.

Default Schedule Task - Follow up

I have just noticed a strange situation.

The 'event' task still does NOT work when iexplore.exe is launched.
However on a FEW occasions the task has been started when I open a new tab in IE8.
It does not seem to be reproducible - just occurs on a few random occasions??

Hello GSR. Dont know if it should make a difference but are you trying to add the event task in Rollback from within a Standard User Account or an Administrator Account?

I think that opening a new tab may be the same, in effect, as running a new copy of iexplore.exe. I found the same thing with IE9. In my case it would take a snapshot when I first launched IE9 but would then take another if I opened a new tab, either directly or via a link.

In case the trial part of this was having an effect (it shouldn't), I've just installed RB in trial mode on a fresh install of Windows 7. I set up the task and it all worked as it should. Which OS are you using?

If you haven't already, you could try disabling any antivirus/anti-spyware type software to see if something like that is conflicting with it.

Have you tried opening a support ticket as there's a chance they may have come across the problem before?
