RbRX, in effect, tracks every change to your disk. If you run a defrag while RbRX is watching, the huge amount of changes being made to the disk will quickly fill up the snapshot space. Thus the need to uninstall RbRX before a defrag, or not bother (as I do).

I still have the .exe for FDISR on a CD. Are you saying WIN7 would take it now? It's 32x and my WIN7 is 64x. Some months ago I saw a few posts at Wilders Security forum talking about doing some tweeking to get it to work on 7. I don't have the knowledge to do that so I didn't try.

It would be great if there was a Disable function rather than do an uninstall. Thanks for the info.

You may want to read the complete story on defragging and RollBack in HDS' white paper here. Or you may think that is just too much information .

There is a command line switch to allow third party defraggers to operate with RB installed details of which are here.

Defragging with RB installed though does seem to be fairly counter-productive and is something I only do with RB uninstalled.

Thanks for that white paper. I understand how RB works better than before reading most of the material. I'll digest more later. I saved the pdf.

Dear TW1845,

Yes, this is where I saw the tweaking, and it worked perfectly on my Windows 7 x64.

For Windows 7 x32, the Windows Vista x32 files are to be used, which are provided on Wilders Security.

And, for Windows 7 x64, the Windows Vista x64 files are to be used, which are again provided on Wilders Security.

Best regards,

aladdin.
