Hello,
Im very glad to have found a way ( see the threads about imageprogramms and RB as Sticky) to can keep my snapshots and RB in my image from TrueImage, and it works fine if i restore my backup on the same HD and PC. An Image ( f.e TI )is very good when my hardisk crashed because i can restore my backups on a new harddiks without problmes BUT: Can I restore an image whats contain my snaphots and RB on a new Harddiks too or are the snapshots only specified and to use for the old HD? If not, I do ask this because i dont know the cause and why i should have an image with snaphots if it dont work. I have read that the new Version 10.0 and drive clone works together. But this is not interesting if i cannot restore an image to a new Harddisk or new PC. I hope evrybody has understood what I will mean :-)

Greetings, Numsi!
If I understand you correctly, you have an ALL SECTOR (RAW disk) partition/disk image (which should include your disk's MBR <Master Boot Record> by default) that was created by ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE. That part is good ![]() That image has to have been created OUTSIDE of your active Windows system, i.e., using the ACRONIS True Image BOOT CD, not using True Image that runs under Windows on the system being imaged. This image "should" restore to any hard disk that is equal to or greater than in size compared to the disk the image came from. AND... during the RESTORE process, you need to restore the MBR that was saved during the imaging process (this should be done first). I would test the above scenario first... but it should work fine. If you really don't need all those snapshots when changing disks, I would unINSTALL Rollback to the CURRENT SYSTEM STATE (not the DEFAULT during the unINSTALL... be careful) then image the system (used sectors only) for transfer purposes. After the new disk has been restored to the CURRENT SYSTEM STATE of your old disk, reINSTALL Rollback.

thx for your answer. BUT again: If I want to restore my image maked by TI wich contain RB with his snapshots to a new Harddisk or PC, this will works fine or is it not possible? To make A "Sector by sector" Image is larger than a usually Image and the time is longer . Why I should me make more works when it does not functioned...(oh my good..my english <g>) The best way could be to make in intervall time to uninstall RB and than make a normal image with TI, after done to reinstall RB. But i think it's not the fast way and notuser-friendly I love TI and RB, and I ask all the things because I will be protected if my Hardware crashed and I need a new HD or PC.

Hi Numsi,
In theory, moving a RollBack image (including all snapshots) to new hardware would be no different to moving a normal image. That is, they could both hit problems because of the new hardware. I normally keep images that I have made when RollBack is not installed for this sort of possibility and I would recommend you do the same. Having said that, I find that a change in hardware is sometimes a good opportunity to do a fresh install and have a good clear out .Graham |
