Default Installed the latest ROLLBACK v9 and system properties box starts at bootup???

I contacted the support team and they told me we have others having this issue also, but don't have an answer to why this is happening.

I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue cause I feel really Horizon tech support dropped the ball on this if they have no solution.

I appreciate any help that anyone on here provides.

Welcome to the forum!

Part of what this forum does is help us trend new or unusual issues, then refer those having the issues directly to tech support or the development team to find the solution for everyone.

If you read through some of the older posts for example, there had been an issue with Outlook files being corrupted and emails being lost to it. Several people here were able to let us know they had that issue, the Dev Team requested specific information, and new builds of Rollback were created that fixed the issue.

Perhaps if anyone else is having this same issue they will chime in on this thread, and we will again have a large enough pool of people to get information from to trace down and fix this issue with the System Properties box.

Any information you can provide here would help - such as if you are running Vista or WinXP, and the exact text of the box such as any mention of Computer Name.

There is an issue with Vista for example where a check box gets tripped on the System Properties box - on the bottom left hand corner of the window/screen is a checked box that says "Run at start up..." If you take the check out it will not run at start up.

I'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM upon install of RX v9.

Was running v8 without this issue, but went to v9 on recommendation of Ticket# 4073-7732339.

If I uninstall v9, systempropertiescomputername.exe DOES NOT start on boot-up. When I re-install v9, it comes right back.

I opened a Ticket with Microsoft-Vista-Research-Development and I spent the last two (2) days on the phone with them (Ticket# SRX1104058442ID).

They took control of my System over the net and checked everything known to mankind and could not figure out what/who/why this was happening. THEY COULD NOT GET THIS TO STOP VIA Regedit, MSCONFIG, Defender Software Explorer, AUTORUNS, and a host of other utilities that they loaded on my System.

Again, if I uninstall v9, it stops, if I re-install it starts.

Kindly pass this onto the DEVTEAM.
If they have contacts within Microsoft, feel free to reference my Ticket # above.

Let me know if this Forum is the right approach, or should I open a separate Ticket on this issue.

My System Specs are as follows:

Vista-64 SP2 Home Premium ~ i7CoreQuad ~ 12 gig ~ 1TB Raid 0 ~ 1gig Nvidia
New System, (relatively) Clean Image with only MS and HP Updates applied.
Virus Scan and Spyware via MalewareBytes comes up clean.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, but right now I've run out of tricks...

Thanx...Pat C...

Storm2313, you indicated that you spoke to DEVTEAM on this issue.

Do you have a Ticket # on this conversation.

I would like to open a Ticket and reference your issue...

Thanx...

When I google the error, these two (2) Links were of interest:

Computer Rename / System Properties at Startup! - Windows Vista Forums

Microsoft Vista SystemPropertiesComputerName at Logon? : Microsoft, Vista, Ultimate Edition

So I'm not sure where or who this issue resides (MS Vista or RX).

In my particular case when I uninstall RX v9, the problem goes away.

If DEVTEAM or one of the resident experts can weigh in, it's appreciated.

I'm open to resetting back to the Default Factory Image, applying all current MS & HP Updates, then a re-install of the v9 Build.

I'm holding off doing this and waiting on some comments or direction...

Thanx...

I just installed the current Rollback Rx build (on Vista x64 SP1) and experienced the same problem.

Since the problem follows Rollback Rx being installed it is definitely a HDS problem.

I opened a support ticket and am currently waiting for the response from support.

In my case the system properties is open on the computer name tab. The computer description is blank as I do not have one set and the computer name and workgroup are correct. I did not experiment with filling in the description field and seeing if that affected the problem.

I do not find any "Run at startup ..." checkbox on the system properties box.

Welcome to the Horizon DataSys forums. I'm sure support will get back to you soon, I'll also flag this for someone to take a look at.

mcitt, I have an open Ticket (4073-7732339) with HDS DevTeam and am actively working this issue with them.

The reason you can't find a CheckBox to disable at StartUp with SysPropName is because these directions are only valid for WinXP, they have no bearing on Vista-32 or Vista-64. There is NO CheckBox under any flavor of Vista...lol...

DevTeam recently forwarded me a new Test Build (# 2694234126), but that did NOT fix the issue.

On my machine (HP i7CoreQuad ~ V-64 SP2) the following holds true:

v9 Build # 2693945362 does NOT get the Error.
v9 Build # 2694141964 has the Error.
v9 Build # 2694234126 has the Error.

I have witnessed this beyond a reasonable doubt (via numerious installs and uninstalls).

Can you post your open Ticket for reference ???
Can you post the Buiild # where Error occurs ???

Are you running Raid 0 for performance ???

As more info becomes available via DevTeam I'll post updates to this thread (both good and bad)...

Post This is a known issue

Hi All, this is a known issue with Rollback v9 on Vista 64. It's related to the new pagefile virtualization feature introduced in Rollback v9. For the "pagefile virtualization", Rollback needs to first hood the system pagefile during system startup. But for some reason, on some Vista 64 systems (especially those with 4GB or more RAM), Rollback could miss hook the pagefile. So the system boots up thinking there is no virtual memory, that's why the system properties windows opens up. There is a workaround to this problem, but it requires users to type some commands at command prompt. We figure that's too much trouble for regular users. So we are working on a solution right now. We should be able to get it fixed in this week (7/17/09) if there is no other surprises. Thanks.

Well my system fits the description

Vista x64 SP1
6GB ram

My support ticket is 4073-7922699

I was sent a link to rollback20090625.zip to try. I was going to install it tonight but based on the latest posts I guess I should wait for a new build.

The build I had originally downloaded and installed was dated 20090525. I don't remember the build number and Rollback Rx is currently uninstalled so I cannot check.
