Hi guys. I've received the Black Friday offers too, but can someone please tell me (before the offer date expires) ..... I bought Rollback RX at the end of October 2010, after trying the free trial and liking the product ... having bought it, does the licence stay with me permanently, or do I have to renew it annually?

I haven't received any mail telling me I need to renew, but would appreciate any clarification here. (jeepers, I find forums so hard to follow). I consider Rollback RX to be the most important piece of software on my pc and, at the moment, I am working on the theory "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it".

It's yours until you do a major upgrade. Then, if you got the Gold plan you're still good. Otherwise you have to pay for the upgrade.

Tom: Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest. Haven't got any plans to do any upgrading, etc, as I'm delighted with how it works just as it is.

Could I just ask another question, please. Whereas with my other day-to-day security programs I check for updates daily, how often ought I to check for updates on Roll-back? Are they done on an internal link? I must confess that since buying it and encountering nothing adverse, I have simply left it alone. If that isn't the correct thing to do, I would appreciate any advise.

Thanks to any who take the time to respond

Well... to be honest, this whole Rollback update thing is a crapshoot most of the time. There is a Forum thread, set up by Nick10, that's supposed to announce RBrx updates. It hasn't done very well to date.

We also have evidence from poster @Aladdin that the update check in the RBrx installation also gets bogus information as to whether there even is an update available.

What I've been doing, reasonably successfully, is manually checking RBrx's DOWNLOAD page, every month or so, at...

Download Rollback Rx | Developer's Official WebSite - Horizon DataSys

When they issue another version it "usually" shows up here. BUT... they have also been guilty of SILENT updates, even on that page, where they change the update distribution and tell no one they did or why they did it.

At least when it shows up there, it tries to have an explanation of the needed changes in the update... like their LOGO change
