Default Install Rollback Rx on computer w/Dell PC Restore

I have a computer (Windows XP Pro) with Dell PC Restore. In case of a major problem, Dell PC Restore allows you to restore your computer to its pristine, just from the factory condition without having to reinstall Windows and the drivers and programs that came preinstalled. PC restore can be deleted but cannot then be recovered. I called Horizon tech support about whether there was a conflict with this program and Rollback Rx. I was told I could go ahead and try it to see if Rollback Rx will work with it. What I would like to know is whether anyone has installed or tried to install Rollback Rx on a Dell with PC Restore. Thanks.

If your primary concern is having a baseline (factory default) installation pristine. You can achieve this by:

1. Keeping your Dell PC Restore enabled, or
2. Installing RollBack Rx.

By installing RollBack Rx you will have a very first snapshot created (factory default). In addition you will be able to take scheduled or manual snapshots on an hourly, daily or even weekly basis. This will assist you in being able to Roll-back to any snapshot ever taken - including the Baseline (factory settings). Whereas the Dell PC Restore only offers a factory baseline restore option.

I hope that this information helps you out. We do have many customers that have installed RollBack Rx onto HP and Dell PC's that have a factory baseline restore option, and many of these users prefer the RollBack Rx solution for daily PC upkeep.

Hopefully we can get some other Dell users to participate on this thread, as I know little about the Dell restore features.

Thanks for your feedback. I spoke to a 2nd level tech at Dell and he thought that Rollback Rx would be compatible with Dell PC Restore even though they are both on the MBR, so maybe I'll try to install Rollback Rx without deleting the Dell Restore. If I decide to try that I'll post the outcome.

Default Installed Rollback Rx without deleting Dell PC Restore

I just installed Rollback Rx without deleting Dell Restore. The installation went off without a problem. When the computer boots up the Rollback Rx image comes on the screen first followed by the Dell image. I was able to activate Dell Restore but did not use it--just gave the command to reboot the computer again rather than restore. As I mentioned in my first posting I have Windows XP. I read that Dell uses a different PC Restore system for Vista. Thank you.

Default Rollback Rx Much Better Than GoBack

GoBack was ok when it was the only game in town but I've already used Rollback Rx a couple of times while setting up a new computer and it's much better than GoBack. The information on the website points out the advantages but it's not until you use it that you really appreciate it. Thanks to the Horizon people for a really great product.
