Thanks everyone for your thoughts. And yes Graham the purchase info today is very different from a year ago. It has been made quite clear. And it makes me still wonder what in my purchase was for a "lifetime?" Below is a copy and paste from my receipt. Notice the "lifetime" part is listed with the support sale, so what about that is "lifetime?"
As far as I can tell nothing in my purchase qualifies for life except the right to use the current version. So why did they even mention it under the support sale if it wasn't to be understood exactly how it was sold to me? The only explanation that I can think of is that after many of us bought the "lifetime" deal last year someone high up thought it was just too good a deal and decided to try to convince us that it never was what was sold. If it was to be what they sell today they would not have said "lifetime" in the support sale and instead would have just called it a yearly subscription. .In comparison, here in the UK I've just had to cough up £20 ($30) for the privilege of calling Apple for a one-off support incident to ask them about my faulty iPad . Quote:
If you look at their upgrade policy here you will see that they still use 'lifetime' when, removing the word would just makes more sense. At the end of the day, I guess you need to resolve this directly with HDS by either them providing you with actual lifetime updates and support for your one-off payment of $10.35 or, you deciding if the on-going payments are good value for you. The invoice is in USD and is for three copies of RB and "Lifetime Updates and Gold support" for all three. I bought this during one of their sales and I suppose that explains the pricing. I hope it all works out. Richard |

There is a difference between updates and upgrades. Perhaps this is the source of the confusion. You are entitled to all updates for the version you have purchased for as long as you are using that version and updates are issued but that does not mean you are entitled to upgrades to new versions. As to the gold service that has, to my knowledge, always been an annual subscription.
