Default Rollback Rx Has Built-in Imaging?

Hello
I currently use Acronis for disk imaging so I can restore to a new disk in the event of drive failure (among other uses). I saw somewhere that Rollback has the ability to archive an image offline, to another disk. I looked through the online manual and didn't see this feature described. Perhaps I missed it, but can someone briefly describe the feature or direct me to an in-depth explanation?

Thanks

Hi capatt

Yes and No! Up until v8 there was an imaging function include but as of v9 this was split off and is offered as a separate application called Drive Cloner Rx. The cost of this application is separate and in addition to that for RB Rx.

You could try using a v8 version of RB Rx but I would recommend that you use the latest version, and keep using ATI...that is what I do.

Default The history of it all..

@capatt: Baldrick is right. Current version of Acronis will work with Rollback Rx 9.1 without a hitch -- so if you got it, use it.

We built Drive Cloner to be sure that we would have an offline save/restore with which we could absolutely 100% guarantee compatibility. Under RbRX v8.1, DC was a simple little app that we threw in for free. It started to get more functional and complex, so we spuin it off under v9.0. As any developer can tell you, having code with differing objectives in a single module is a prime recipe for difficult developement.

If later you decide to spend money on a switch/upgrade, give the inexpensive Drive Cloner another look.

@Baldrick, you have the nom de e-plume of my favorite character in Bladder. He beats out King ("I may be as thick as a whale sandwich") George by a hair. My favorite episode where Captain Darling got an espresso coffee. Those of you familiar with Black Adder will immediately get my warped sense of humor. Those not familiar are earnestly abjured from watching this episode. Consider yourselves warned.
