Hi Gang,
We would like your feedback on how this topic was handled. Did Nick10 take care of this situation properly? What are your thoughts? I uninstalled ROLLBACK Rx now everything since the installation is GONE! If you'd like to comment, please join in the conversation. Feel free to PM me if you'd like your comments to remain out of sight. |

Nick did a good job, however IF what alloyd709 says is true then I would have to agree with him about helping him out more .. 3,500 is kind of unjustified. It Costs Very Little to help a user out .. and would go a very long way building trust and good will for your company. I have personal experience with rollbacks "bugs" over the years. #1 Big time file corruptions ( lost my Outlook data file Ect. ) #2 Blue Screen - After Closing Explore Snapshot. #3 Check Disk Problems #4 System properties window - on Reboot #5 Bad or un-usable snapshots #6 Picked the wrong one or have picked the baseline instead of the current system !!! I test software so I can recommend it to my customers. I do all sorts of really bad things to my computer on purpose .. Virus installs .. file deletions.. software installs .. un-installs ect. Now having said that .. I myself have been saved many times using rollback! Also NOT been saved by rollback! So I totally feel for this guy, I know how frustrating it can be!!! You think your protected .. only to find your really not. On Closing .. Just today .. I lost 1 of the 4 drives, it just went dead!! ( came home to a very very loud ticking - Squealing Omg what the heck is that sound ) ( freaked out ) Thought that the computer was dead black screen ... Opened up the computer and found the drive was about 1000 deg. ( freaked out ) Took it out .. tryed to reboot .. Vista booted .. it thought it was a new install and started to open a new desktop with nothing installed !! ( freaked out ) Well .. I thought Thank god i have a Acronis Image! ( Do one every night - Takes Forever to Restore But Oh Well ) Rebooted saw Rollback Come Up! Said COOL! Picked a Auto snapshot from 10am this morning and what you know! I was backup and running in a few minutes! THANKS ROLLBACK! YOU SAVED ME AGAIN ! |

I think Nick10 handled this situation correctly and superbly. This situation was created by user error and Nick10 did as much as he could do. Periodic backups is the only insurance there is against loosing important data

I have to agree with the previous poster, Nick10 did well in his handling of this situation. I have uninstalled/reinstalled rollback many many times, and have always been given the choice of snapshot to revert to. But I have a licenced version so cannot fairly comment on the trial version.
However I would have thought anyone who uses their PC for their living, would have some tried and tested backup system in place. unfortunately this user did not, hence his dire situation. A lesson has been learned, albeit very expensive in his case. It matters not how much we sympathise with his situation, there can be no excuse for his attitude and language directed towards those who were trying to help him, whether a fault with the software was to blame or not. |

I think Nick did a good job.
I don't like the fact that previous posts were altered however. Also, I wouldn't assume the problem was user caused. While 9.1 is very stable for me, I have had previous versions cause me some real headaches which were not user caused. They were glitches which caused BSOD and boot errors. I even had 1 uninstall issue as I remember. Again, not with W7 and 9.1. Last edited by Masterblaster; 12-16-2009 at 12:07 PM. |

We also prefer not to alter posts. In this case, posts were only altered to remove profanity. Rather than deleting the post entirely, we opted to allow the group to benefit from at least a portion of it. Last edited by HDS-Tamara; 12-16-2009 at 01:26 PM. |

I thought the removed post mentioned a user threatening to sue Horizon Data Systems?

Good catch, Masterblaster - Actually, you're correct. A post fitting that description was removed. However, it was because the entire post was so profane, there was very little that could be salvaged, and we found it was no longer useful to the discussion.
You make a good point - nobody likes to feel like their posts are being altered just because the company may not like what they are saying. In this case, we could not in good conscience allow a post to stay up that was vulgar or profane. |

Most forums I involve myself with automatically add wild cards "*" to the letters in profane words and otherwise leave the post intact. This is a much better way of handling this issue rather that altering posts which is a real no no as far as I am concerned.
The whole purpose of an "open forum" is to allow users to post unedited opinions for all to read and respond to. Good or bad. Let users decide. |
