Default Sandbox Rx

Horizon DataSys will be introducing a new product called "Sandbox Rx" within the next few months. It is a revolutionary new technology that uses a "sandbox" archetecture for creating a testing environment.

Our Vision: Technologies like RollBack Rx is revolutionary and is being embraced by users around the world. However, as many corporate users are looking at "cloud" based solutions - we are in the midst of creating a virtual sandbox environment for PC's. The real difference is that the sandbox environment would be able to be saved as a file and used on other "similar" PC's that host the same Sandbox Rx application.

We are looking for advanced PC users that would like to participate in our Beta-Testing of SandBox Rx. We will start the beta testing in the middle of April 2010.

If you would like to become a beta tester for SandBox Rx - register from the link below:

Will i still be able to run Rollback RX while testing Sandbox RX?

In other words.....is Sandbox RX compatible with Rollback RX?

Yes, Sandbox Rx is fully compatible with RollBack Rx. RollBack Rx would be the more dominant of the two - therefore, Sandbox Rx will work within and with Windows.

Thanks for the reply Nick10.

So to be clear....any damage that Sandbox Rx does to my system will be gone when Rolling back to a previous snapshot? After all, this is what Rollback is designed to do, right?

I only ask because you give the following warning about testing Sandbox RX

Quote:
LIKE ANY RECOVERY / DATA RESTORE PRODUCT, THERE IS A RISK OF DATA LOSS OR DAMAGE WHEN USED IMPROPERLY OR IN UNTESTED ENVIRONMENTS OR CONFIGURATIONS. ACCORDINGLY, YOU SHOULD USE THE SOFTWARE IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH ITS DOCUMENTATION AND ONLY AFTER MAKING A SUCCESSFUL BACK-UP OF YOUR DATA. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE SANDBOX RX PRODUCT IS BEING TESTED ON A TESTING PC AND THAT YOUR DATA HAS BEEN BACKED UP.

BY USING THE SOFTWARE YOU EXPRESSLY ASSUME ALL RISK OF LOSS ASSOCIATED WITH ANY DATA LOSS OR DAMAGE.
I only have one PC in my house so you can see how this will be an issue if i cant Rollback successfully. However i do have a working image stored offline as a fail safe.

I would much prefer to test this in a VM. I have VMWare Workstation installed so would testing in a VM be something you guys would be interested in?

The warning is the same message that is in the RollBack Rx EULA intoduction...
As a beta tester, we expect users to test the limits of our software - and thus we do not recommend using it on any system that is not backed up etc. Most beta testers will push the limits beyond the normal use of software; and this is what we expect from our testers. This is the only way to find out what potential problems exist with the software. In doing so, there is a potential for losing data or crashing a PC...

So, if you do not have a back up of your important files etc. we do not recommend that you test Sandbox Rx. Although RollBack Rx would be able to protect your PC; we can not make any gaurantees when it comes to software testing. If you are uncertain, I would wait until the final production version is available for download.

Few questions :

Does sandbox rx conflict with geswall, defencewall, sandboxie, First-defense ISR and other software of this type?

Is it possible to post some screenshots

Thanks,
Atomas31

Default Insight from Nick10 on Sandbox Rx

Hi again Atomas31, I'm not sure if we can answer the question accurately at this time since Sandbox RX is still in its early stages. Given some time, we maybe be able to find an answer to that in the near future. Additionally, I am posting some insight on Sandbox Rx from Nick10 here.

Features and Benefits:

  • PC users would always work in a safe "Sandbox" environment, thus not affecting their HOST computer
  • PC's can save the Sandbox Rx file(s) and store them remotely
  • Each Sandbox Rx file can be used on multiple (similar) PC's
  • Sandbox RX is moving towards cloud computing solutions which is the future of PC management

Our vision of "cloud technology" with PC computing:

With Sandbox Rx techonlogy and as an example, users would eventually be able to use the same PC at work, update their Sandbox Rx file and upload it to a FTP server. Whent the user gets home, they would be able to download the Sandbox Rx file and work on the home PC with the same PC environment (files, folders, data, etc.) as their office PC.
